By raising awareness and actively advocating for the implementation of the Geneva Declaration on Human Rights at Sea, we aim to better protect the rights of millions of people living, working and travelling across the world's seas and oceans.
We work with the UN, governments, industry leaders, and other NGOs to create more effective laws and policies that safeguard the rights and well-being of all people at sea globally.
Eritara Aati died while working onboard a commercial fishing vessel, and three years on, his family are still searching for answers.
Eritara was many things: a devoted husband, a loving father, and an experienced fisheries observer. His job was to monitor fishing vessels, collect data and report any illegal activities.
But this work is not without risk. In fact, many observers have died at sea under mysterious circumstances.
Death at Sea premiered in London in January 2024 and the case will be taken forward by Human Rights at Sea International.
This programme is designed to support governments and commercial entities to develop, review, and implement laws and policies which protect everyone's human rights at sea.
