HRAS is delighted to announce that Colleen Theron of CLT Enviro Law has joined the HRAS initiative to support and develop Corporate Social Responsibility tools kits in the maritime environment alongwith providing expert advisory services alongside the HRAS team.
Colleen Theron is a sustainability lawyer and consultant. She is the director of CLT envirolaw. Colleen is qualified as a solicitor in England, Wales, Scotland and South Africa, and holds a LLM in environmental law from the University of Aberdeen.
She has worked with companies as a city lawyer since 1996, advising on environmental issues in complex property and corporate transactions, and is still retained as a consultant for a London law firm. She is recognised in the Legal 500 and Chambers as a leading practitioner in this field. Colleen also lectures at Birkbeck College in London.
She has had an interest in CSR and sustainability issues throughout her career and lectures and publishes in this field. She has been a key delivery partner working with a global media company in obtaining certification of their events under the framework of BS8901 (transitioned to ISO 20121)
Colleen writes for Lexis, PSL Environment, providing specialist environmental knowhow on sustainability and responsible business issues. She regularly speaks at conferences and some of her publications appear on the website.
Colleen is a frequent contributor to the legal and professional press. Some of her publications are available at www.clt-envirolaw.com/publications. She also contributes to LexisPSL Environment, She is the co-author (with Malcolm Dowden) of the UK Chapter in the UNEP-funded book Green Buildings and the Law (CIB, 2011).
Colleen is passionate about stopping human trafficking and has recently been appointed a director of the NGO Finance against Trafficking. She was an executive member and trustee of the UK Environmental Law Association for seven years. She is also part of the newly formed steering group of the British Association for Sustainability in Sport (BASIS). Colleen has had an interest in CSR, corporate reporting and sustainability issues throughout her career and is also a speaker on these issues. She is also a member of the ISO20121 BSI London Committee.
