Dr. Elizabeth Mavropoulou is a Lecturer in International Law at the University of Westminster, London UK. Elizabeth specialises in international refugee and human rights law and she has published in leading international law journals. Her book “Responsibility Sharing in International Refugee Law: Towards Common But Differentiated Legal Obligations" (Brill | Nijhoff) is forthcoming in October 2025. Elizabeth has done advocacy and policy work and has written extensively on the topic of human rights at sea during her tenure with Human Rights at Sea. She has submitted expert evidence and expert reports before the UK House of Lords, the European Parliament and other fora and often provides expert training and workshops to journalists, policy makers and practitioners. Elizabeth is one of the authors of the Geneva Declaration on Human Rights at Sea.
