London. UK. This Friday 10 December 2021, on International Human Rights Day, the International Bar Association Human Rights Law Committee will host a webinar on Human Rights in the maritime industry.

This webinar is part of a series of webinars celebrating international Human Rights Day.  The following issues will be discussed in the webinar:

  • Seafarers and Covid-19;
  • International investigations of maritime incidents;
  • Responses to modern slavery legislation in maritime law; and
  • Rights and remedies of corporations and human rights issues at sea.

The webinar will take place at 1100 – 1200 AEDT. It will be moderated by Wajiha Ahmed,  Secretary, Human Rights Law Committee and confirmed speakers include Michelle Taylor, Partner at Sparke Helmore, Queensland, Australia, Anthe Philippides, Former Justice of the Court of Appeal, Queensland, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and Nicoletta Louverdis, Lawyer at Maddocks, Canberra, Australia.
