Dr Marika McAdam is an international law and policy adviser who works globally to strengthen the implementation of international human rights law in State practice. She has served as a consultant and adviser to the United Nations, regional inter-governmental organisations, civil society and private sector actors. She has worked with law enforcers, prosecutors, judges, parliamentarians and policymakers on transnational crime and related issues, including in the maritime context. Her work spans qualitative research, technical assistance, legislative reform and capacity building. Her publications have been flagged in resolutions of the General Assembly and Security Council, and shaped regional and domestic law and policy. Marika is a member of the Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime Network of Experts and an Adjunct Professor at Griffith University Law School. She has served on several boards and advisory committees, including as a former Trustee of Human Rights at Sea.
