Dr. Olga Martin-Ortega is Professor of International Law at the University of Greenwich. She leads the Business, Human Rights and the Environment Research Group (BHRE, www.bhre.org), which she founded in 2013. She is a leading expert on international human rights, business and human rights and forced labour in global supply chains. Her work has led to significant changes in policy and practice in the UK, EU and beyond. She has acted as an advisor to the UK Home Office Modern Slavery Prevention Unit, UK Parliament, European Parliament, OSCE, ILO and UN High Level Procurement Network, Government of Canada and numerous individual public bodies and civil society organisations, including the Global Commission on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking. Her work has been considered of global impact by the UK Research Excellence Framework (REF21, 4*).  She is the author of numerous peer reviewed articles, edited collections, two textbooks and several technical reports and professional guidance, has delivered a TEDx Talk and is the creator and host of two podcasts. She is currently Senior Advisor on Remedy in Global Supply Chains at Electronics Watch and has served as a trustee and member of the Board of Directors for Electronics Watch, Corporate Justice Coalition UK and the London Universities Purchasing Consortium.
