‘Frontline Realities of Protecting Human Rights at Sea. Albokhari, Bekavac and Others.’

This lecture address confronts the legal, structural, and corporate failures that allow human and labour rights abuses to thrive within and adjacent to international waters. It challenges the traditional state-led and commercial-centric bias of maritime governance, demonstrating how the institutional siloing the law of the sea has effectively created expanding zones of impunity at sea.

Through an evaluation of current Human Rights at Sea casework, emerging soft law architectures, and marine insurance lenses, this lecture provides public international lawyers, maritime jurists and policy holders with a roadmap to better enforce human dignity across global supply chains.
