Human Rights at Sea (HRAS) is delighted to announce the appointment of Rear Admiral Russ Harding CBE FRAeS to its Board of Trustees

With over 30 years of experience at sea, Russ has had an impressive career; a former Naval Officer, Management Consultant, and Captain of an Aircraft Carrier, and also served with the UK's Fishery Protection Squadron and was a British Sea Fisheries Officer, which has given him a passion for the sea and its communities.

In 2016, Russ re-trained and transitioned into the private sector as a Management Consultant with PA Consulting in London and then worked for several years in the Middle East with the global consulting firm Kearney.

Russ said, "I am very much looking forward to becoming actively involved with HRAS campaigns using my experience at sea, from working in a large Government Department Head Office as well as that gained from a number of years spent in the consulting industry. I have a passion for the sea, the well-being of its communities and those who earn their living either on or from the sea."

Matthew Vickers, Chair of Trustees, added, "Russ' unique career history, experience and commitment to supporting people at sea will bring a rich fusion of new thinking to the charities mission, and he will be a catalysing force in the effort to combat human rights abuses that take place at sea globally."

David Hammond, CEO, said, "We are delighted that Russ will be joining us and adding his professional experience and energy to the Trustee Board to drive forward our national and international human rights work."

Human Rights at Sea is thrilled to have Russ on board to continue propelling its efforts to promote and protect human rights for those who live, work and move across our world oceans.
