Universal Human Rights

Everyone in the world has human rights that must be protected by law.

Our fundamental human rights are enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and subsequent UN Conventions and Declarations.

We work to ensure that those rights are respected, protected and fulfilled at sea.

How we do it

We prevent, detect and remedy human rights abuses at sea by:

Helping people understand their human rights and what to do if things go wrong.

Working with victims of human rights abuses and their families to obtain justice.

Investigating allegations of abuse globally.

Bringing public attention to the problem of human rights abuse at sea.

Advocating for laws and policies which protect people at sea.

Developing innovative ways to support victims to access justice.

Working with universities and institutions to research and publish.

Working with states and businesses to improve human rights protections.
