Human Rights at Sea has provided teaching input at the World Maritime University on its frontline work to address the protections of fundamental human rights in the maritime environment.
Founder, David Hammond, was invited to attend the university campus in central Malmö, Sweden to deliver a lecture based around over a 13 years work as a practioner in the human rights at sea field.
Supporting Human Rights at Sea Ambassador, Dr. Khanssa Lagdami who is leading the MSc in Maritime Affairs - Maritime Law & Policy, the WMU is delivering a comprehensive programme preparing mature students for their future statel-level roles.
The MSc program offers an in-depth understanding of maritime law and policy frameworks. It covers critical areas such as international law, shipping regulations, and environmental sustainability. The course is designed for those seeking to navigate the complex maritime sector, providing essential skills for legal and management roles.
The lecture also gave an opportunity to reinforce the Ali Albokhari case through the showing of the testimonial film by his wife, Elena as he enters his fourth year incarcerated in a Turkish prison for alleged paritciaption in drugs importation from Columbia, which has always been strenously denied.
