Maritime Insurance

Voirrey is a Senior Claims Associate at a leading P&I Club in London handling claims and providing advice to Members on all matters from crew injury to collisions. Prior to this she worked as an Associate at Reed Smith, working mainly within the "wet" or admiralty team. She has worked on an array of shipping matters on collisions, groundings, fire and all range of marine emergencies and work from the initial event all the way through to court or arbitration, including the UK Supreme Court.

Voirrey’s passion for all things related to the ocean started at a young age with family living on the Isle of Man. She turned her passion into a job and graduated from the University of Southampton in 2011 with a BSc in Marine Biology with Oceanography. Following this she attended Warsash Maritime Academy and worked at sea for eight years as a deck officer, initially in the cruise industry before moving across to the ferry sector. In her last role at sea she worked as the Marine Officer in the operations department of a ferry company, where she was responsible for, amongst other things, developing the Bridge Resource Management training program to be implemented across the fleet.

A believer in the power of mentorship Voirrey has been lucky enough to experience excellent mentors that have helped guide her career and in turn has mentored junior members of her team both at sea and in the legal world. But it was experiencing discrimination herself, and witnessing it happen to others, that stoked the fire and set her on the path into law with the view of the only way to make a difference is to get on the inside. Having provided pro bono work for various seafarer charities in the past joining HRASI as a NED is a step Voirrey is delighted to be making and she is committed to building a better more inclusive shipping industry.

Voirrey lives in North Essex with her husband who is a marine pilot.
